The short version
In the editor, open Design. Choose a template, upload your logo, pick Sans or Serif, and choose an accent colour. The preview changes at once.
The eight templates
The Design section shows each template as a small picture. Select one and the preview changes.
Classic is the default. Timesheet suits hourly work. Compact fits more lines on a page. DIN 5008 follows the German layout for business letters, which is handy for customers in Germany. Look at the preview with your own invoice to see which one you like.
You cannot build your own template. You choose one of the eight and set the logo, font and colour.
Your logo
Select Upload a logo, or Change logo if you have one. Use a PNG or JPG up to 5 MB. Then choose a size: Small, Medium or Large. Select Remove to take it off.
This is the same logo as the one on your booking pages. Without a logo, your initial is shown in a coloured square. See Invoice defaults and your logo.
Font and accent colour
Font. Sans or Serif.
Accent colour. Pick one of six colours, or select the round colour wheel to choose your own, for example your brand colour. If the colour is very light, the editor warns you that text in it may be hard to read on white paper.
The accent colour is used for headings and details on the invoice. On your customer's page it also fills the band behind the invoice. See What your customer sees.
Saved with each invoice
The look is saved with each invoice. Changing it later does not change an invoice you have already sent. So you can try a new template next month and your old invoices keep the look your customers received.
A default look for a customer
Each customer can have their own Invoice template and Accent colour. Set them under Tax and preferences when you add or edit the customer. When you choose that customer in the editor, a new invoice starts with that look. You can still change it on the invoice. See Add and manage customers.
Where the look shows
- The live preview in the editor.
- The customer page, with your colour behind the invoice and your logo at the top.
- The PDF, which is the same sheet. See Invoice PDFs and printing.
- The invoice email, which carries your name.
