Invoice Defaults and Your Logo

Set the things you type on every invoice once. A new invoice starts with them, and you can still change each one on the invoice.

The short version

Open Invoice settings, choose Invoice defaults, fill in what you always use and select Save. New invoices start with it.

The section

What defaults are

The Invoice defaults section holds what a new invoice starts with. You can change all of it on each invoice. A customer can also have their own currency and payment terms, which win over these when you pick that customer.

The fields

Currency, terms and hourly rate

FieldNotes
Invoice currencyThe currency new invoices use. Timelydo suggests the one for your country.
Payment termsDue on receipt, or Net 7, 14, 30, 45, 60 or 90 days.
Default hourly rateNew hourly lines start at this price. Optional.

Notes, instructions and footer

FieldLimitWhat it does
Notes1,000 charactersPrinted on every new invoice, for example a thank you.
Payment instructions1,000 charactersBank details for customers who pay by transfer. They are shown on the invoice and on the customer page.
Footer500 charactersA closing line at the foot of the invoice.

Tax note and saved tax notes

The Tax note (up to 300 characters) is a line some invoices need by law, such as a small business exemption or reverse charge. It is used on invoices that charge no tax. Ask your tax adviser what it should say.

Saved tax notes are your own wordings, up to 10, that you pick in one click on an invoice without tax. Timelydo never decides which wording applies. See Tax Rates and Tax and Electronic Invoices.

Email templates

Under Email templates you can keep up to 10 subjects and messages you send often. Each has a name (up to 60 characters), a subject (200) and a message (1,000). Pick one in the send dialog of an invoice or an estimate.
