The short version
Open Invoice settings and choose Tax rates. Select Add tax rate, give it a name and a percentage and decide whether prices already include it.
Add a rate
Select Add tax rate and fill in:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name | Up to 60 characters, for example VAT 19% or Sales tax. Each active rate needs its own name. |
| Percentage | 0 to 100, with decimals. |
| Region | Optional, up to 80 characters. |
| Prices already include this tax | Off means the tax is added on top. On means the price already contains it. |
| Use on new invoices | Makes this your default rate. |
With no rates yet and your country set, a button offers the usual rates for your country in one click. They are ordinary rates afterwards. Check that they match what you charge.
Default rate
One rate can be the default. New invoice lines start with it. Select Make default on another rate to move it. Choosing a new default frees the old one.
Archive and restore
Select Archive to take a rate out of use. Invoices that used it keep it. Select Show archived rates to see archived ones, and Restore to bring one back. An archived rate cannot be the default.
An archived rate can be deleted for good, but only when no invoice line and no product uses it. Otherwise Timelydo refuses.
The limit
You can have up to 25 active rates. Add tax rate is disabled at 25. Archive one to make room.
Added, included or none
On an invoice you choose how the whole invoice handles tax: Tax added (prices are before tax), Tax included (prices contain the tax) or No tax with an optional tax note. The "included" setting on a rate is the starting point for a line. Each line picks its own rate or none.
Timelydo does not choose for you
